Frequently asked questions
Who pays for AI generation (API fees)?add
You do, directly. CineFold Desktop doesn't resell AI usage: generations run on your own accounts with the providers you connect, and they bill you at their own prices. With Local Mode and free open-source models, generation costs nothing beyond your own hardware.
Do I need an internet connection?add
While you're online, your license is checked quietly in the background once a day. If your connection drops, you get about 30 days of full use from the last check, then a 14-day grace period. The Manual Prompt Builder and local models (ComfyUI/Ollama) work offline; first activation, model downloads and cloud providers need an internet connection.
What can I do without a license?add
Download the app for free and use the interface, the Manual Prompt Builder (unlimited and free), your library and settings. Image, video, voice and music generation, AI Director, Studio and the Assistant require a license.
How many computers can I use?add
One license works on up to 2 of your computers — for example a Mac and a Windows PC. You can deactivate a computer from your account page at any time to free up a slot.
What is the refund policy?add
Full refund within 14 days of purchase, for any reason — just email support@cinefold.ai. Once the refund is processed, the license is canceled.
Are updates included?add
Yes — all 1.x updates are free for life. A future 2.0 may be offered as a paid upgrade; your 1.x version keeps working.
What are the system requirements?add
macOS 12 or later (Apple Silicon or Intel), or Windows 10 or later (64-bit). Local models need extra disk space and, for good speed, a recent GPU or Apple Silicon — requirements depend on the model.
